Probably one of the most interesting and difficult waterholes to paint in Arkaroola, we have nicknamed it  “Noodles” as no one can pronounce its real name Nooloodoolnoola.  Arkaroo is the dream time serpent who inhabits this area of the Flinders Ranges and the story goes, the serpent left the Flinders and travelled out and went to Lake Frome and drank the Lake dry, which is why it is a dry lake most of the time.  When Arkaroo returned to the desert ranges, the local people dropped this huge boulder into the riverbed at the meeting point of two rivers so that the serpent would never be able to escape again!  That ancient place is Nooloodoolnoola waterhole!
